How do I become a patient?
In order to determine if medical cannabis could be beneficial for you, we require completion of our eligibility form. If eligible, you will be able to book and pay for your initial consultation.
To complete your assessment, we require medical records from your GP and/or specialist. If you have previously received treatment from another medical cannabis clinic, please provide details of your first and most recent prescriptions, along with your discharge letter.
To finalise your onboarding, we will also need a digitally signed evaluation and a valid photographic ID.
If you already have your medical records, the process can typically be completed within 24-48 hours, and your appointment can be scheduled within 7 days. However, if we need to obtain your records on your behalf, please note that this may cause a short delay.
When will I get my prescription?
After your consultation or repeat prescription request has been submitted, we will confirm your order and issue and invoice for your medication. Once payment is received, please allow 1–2 working days for delivery.
You can track the status of your prescription at any time via the patient portal, and your delivery tracking details will also be sent to you by email.
I have a lot of questions, can I speak to the clinic directly?
You can schedule a free call with our clinic team at a time that suits you.
Am I obligated to order every month?
A monthly prescription limit will be set during your one-month follow-up appointment. However, you are under no obligation to request a repeat prescription if you do not need one.
What are the waiting times for an initial consultation?
New patients can book and pay for an appointment no sooner than 10 days in advance. This allows sufficient time for us to obtain your medical records and verify your eligibility.
If you already have a copy of your Summary Care Record (SCR), we can typically schedule your appointment within 5 working days.
Do I need to ask my GP if I can start medical cannabis treatment?
No, you can self-refer to our clinic and do not need consent from their GP to begin medical cannabis treatment.
However, we are legally required to inform your GP about your treatment. This ensures continuity of care and helps safeguard your health in case you develop new medical conditions or are prescribed other medications that could interact with cannabis-based treatments.
What should I do if my condition is not listed?
In case your medical condition is not listed, please reach out to us at info@mamedica.com, and our patient support team will get in touch with you to explore possible options for accessing treatment.
I've not been to the Doctors for my condition, can I access treatment?
Patients who have not previously tried primary treatments for their condition will not meet the eligibility criteria. However, any medication, therapy, or treatment - including care received through another CBPM service - that has been prescribed or recommended by your doctor (even if declined) can count toward the two required prior treatments for eligibility.
How often do I need to make an appointment?
Following your initial consultation, we are legally required to schedule a follow-up appointment after one month, and then quarterly- at months 3, 6, and 9 - during your first year of treatment. After the first year, only one follow-up appointment will be required annually.
I have paid for my medication but want to change it, is this possible?
In accordance with Mamedica Dispensary Limited Terms and Conditions, once payment has been made for a prescribed medication, no cancellation or substitutions can be made.
If you would like to request a change to your medication, this must be done before making payment - either by submitting a request through the repeat prescription form or by selecting the £15 rewrite option available in the patient portal.
How do I order a repeat prescription?
You can submit your request in the patient portal. To request a repeat prescription, you are required to have had a least 2 consultations with Mamedica and should not be due for a follow-up.
If you don’t meet these criteria, please book a follow-up appointment in the patient portal.
What if I need to change or cancel my consultation appointment?
If you need to cancel or adjust your appointment for whatever reason, please do so via your patient portal no later than 48 hours prior to your appointment to avoid charges being incurred. If you need to change your appointment less than 48 hours prior, please call our clinic team on 0330 580 1170 to discuss.

Can I change my delivery address?
